Tachymeter- company cash register and much more

In the government proposal that was submitted for consultation, it was proposed that vehicles used in taxi transport should in future be equipped with a taximeter that meets the requirements of the Measuring Instruments Directive, in practice a cash register.

The Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), Directive 2014/32/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, harmonises Member States' legislation and ensures that measuring instruments are accurate, reliable and safe to use. The Directive applies to measuring instruments used in areas such as commerce (e.g. fuel measurement, electricity meters), consumer protection, taxation and customs clearance, environmental protection, public safety and health. The Directive aims to protect consumers from incorrect measurements, ensure fair competition and prevent market distortions.

Ensuring consumer protection and providing reliable and comparable data from the taxi industry requires the use of sealed measuring instruments that meet the requirements of the Measuring Instruments Directive.

In practice, a taximeter acts as a cash register terminal with an indestructible memory (Fiscal Memory). It brings together all the entrepreneur's cash flows from different sources and stores them reliably. The information is available to the entrepreneur in a driver portal, which the entrepreneur can use for financial management - for example, for accounting and payroll. The indestructible memory of the taximeter also allows for effective control by the authorities. It also creates a level and transparent playing field for all operators in the sector, including those in the platform economy.
